Novorossiya, having chosen an imperial flag, connects itself "with own history in line with history of the Russian Empire". National flag will be shortly approved by parliament of the republic.
The union of the national republics of Novorossiya was created on May 24, 2014. Donetsk and Lugansk national republics became its participants.
